Obituary of Clifford Akins (abt. 1912 - 1939)

I'm closing in on the last few newspaper obituaries that my grandmother had in her collection. Today's entry is for Clifford AKINS who was my grandmother's half first cousin. The "half" comes from the fact that her mom and uncle (father to Clifford) were half-siblings from the same father, different mothers.

Clifford was the 5th of 6 children born to Absalom (Absy) Bowman AKINS and Jessie Mable INGLING. He died young, at age 27, but the obituaries I have did not specify the cause as anything other than an "extended illness". It could have been cancer I suppose, or maybe tuberculosis.

Other than the 1920 and 1930 federal census records where he was a child living in his father's house, I don't have any information on Clifford.

Obituary Text - 2nd Obit - Note that text of last several lines matches original obituary in breaks and spacing, it looks like there was an error in typesetting:

  1. OMG you nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw this posting! Charley and Ethel Mae supposedly had a child who was also Clifford Akins, but I haven't been able to find much on him. I was hoping this was him but seems like they named their kids after much of the family...Darn it! :)
